Honoring Historical  Properties 

Property Report and Plaque Application

​Program Concept
By conducting extensive research of primary and secondary historical sources, we aim to develop a compelling story that revolves around the people and events associated with a historical structure in the Walkersville District. As an additional incentive, we offer a plaque that symbolizes a collaborative effort between a property owner and the  Walkersville Historical Society to preserve and share the historical story of the property for current and future generations. The community member’s participation in this process contributes to preserving our rich history and offers a unique opportunity to participate in a significant community project.

Program Guidelines

• Property Age: The property must be 75 years old at a minimum.
• Property Report: Within the Glade Valley Area. 
•  Plaque: The property address must have a 21793 zipcode. 
• Historical Property Research Report: $50
• Historical Property Research Report and Plaque: $150
• If a member has donated a minimum of $50 for a historical property report, they may purchase the plaque for an additional $100.

Suppose the society had previously completed a historical property report and a new property owner wants a historical plaque. In that case, the new property owner must donate $50 for an updated historical property report and $100 for the plaque.
